daycare what to wear
What exactly do children need to wear in a daycare environment? Some parents may think that it can be appropriate for kids to come in just home clothes as they will be supervised in daycare the same as they would have been if they were at home. This may not be entirely wrong but there are guidelines in a daycare that kids and parents need to abide to. It is important for children to dress for comfort and at the same time, provide enough cover for the kid’s safety in a group setting with other children. Kids can wear pants or shorts that are not too hard to put on. It is best to get clothing that are made of cotton and are really soft and does not cause irritation on the skin.
Parents should avoid overdressing their child. Avoiding laces, ruffles or any clothing with fragile and extra fabric as this may be hazardous to children especially when they are in ‘free play’. They need to wear clothes that are practical and functional. They will have plenty of activities and it is best to get children in clothing that is not so restrictive, hard to pull on, and should be easy to manage. For shoes, they should not wear slippers or sandals and should stick with easy to put on tennis shoes. Some daycares would require them to remove their shoes as well, and in this case, it is still best to bring them in in closed shoes. Daycare providers should have the same guidelines to dress for practicality and comfort as they will be handling the children as well.
