daycare when baby is sick
Parents may wonder if they can bring their child to daycare when they are sick and the answer would be, “it depends”. Common sense tells us that if our child is sick, we, as responsible parents, should stay at home and take care of them. This is true for the most part, however, when your child has minor symptoms such as common colds, cough, runny nose, mild fever, rashes without fever, or any kind of low-level non-contagious illnesses it is safe to say that they can still be allowed in daycare. This does not guarantee that all daycares have the same policy and parents can always ask the daycare provider.
Kids get sick in daycare more often than parents think. In fact, common viruses are spread around children in daycare and this can make your child be prone to minor illnesses more often. In the long run, getting used to all the mild germs and viruses around daycares would actually help a child’s immune system to grow. Parents should understand and know how to gauge the severity of their child’s condition and if unsure, it is only right for them to seek a doctor’s advice before bringing their child anywhere else. Sometimes even when your child is not that sick, they will be under the weather and would actually just want to be pampered and cuddled by their parents. In these cases, it is not necessary to bring them to daycare. Parents should remember that there are no strict rules to attendance in daycare when it is concerning your child’s health.
